Finally Online

Hi everyone, miss us yet? We left for Okinawa around 9:30am Monday morning and landed in Tokyo the next afternoon. The children did really well, we were pleasantly surprised. We had a 3 hour layover in Tokyo, which went by fast, because we had to go through customs, baggage, back to check in and then get something to eat. We left Tokyo around 6pm and arrived in Naha, Okinawa around 9pm. One of Corey's buddies from the squadron picked us up. The drive was another hour to base. We got in and went to sleep around 11:30pm. We were beat, but apparently the kids were having a hard time adjusting. The first and second night the girls woke up around 3am and didn't go back to bed. So that means, Corey and I didn't get to either!! As of now everyone seems to be on schedule. We have been busy with meetings, finding a car and praying we get out a house soon. It is horribly HOT/HUMID here!! The A/C wasn't working the first few days, it seems to be a little bit better now.

We bought a Honda Odyssey today. It is burgundy, and instead of 2 sliding doors, it just has regular ones. Our stroller doesn't fit in the back. The cars here are alot smaller than in the states. So we don't know what to do about the stroller, other than try to take the wheels off every time we put it in the car. Corey doesn't seem to be in a hurry to....spend money.....I mean.........buy himself a car! He thinks he is going to use mine, he better dream on!! Right now we are using a loaner car from the guy we bought my van from (we don't get it till Tues.) and then another guys car from the squadron, he is back in the states.

Today we venture off base. I have my Drivers License. Corey missed the class, because the housing appt. went longer than expected. So I got to drive us around, which actually isn't not hard at all. You have to remind yourself every few seconds to drive backwards/opposite of what we do in the states, but it was pretty easy. No mistakes or problems. We didn't know how to get to any of the beaches, so we just drove around till we saw signs for one. Some signs on the Island are in Japanese/English. The beach we found was OK. It was really rocky and I think we were the only Americans there. I told Corey that if we broke down then we would be screwed because there was nothing American around us. We didn't have any ones phone numbers, and no YEN (Japanese money) and well the obvious we don't know ANY Japanese!! We had to go grocery shopping so I think we only stayed for about 45 mins. The kids really seemed to enjoy themselves. As for Corey and I we were very hot, we forgot our swim suits in Seattle.

I will be taking alot of pictures over the next few days to post. And I will sit down and write out all the interesting/weird things we have been seeing. Like most of there gas stations here do not have pumps. The Gas hose, hangs from the roof. It is crazy, I will take a picture of that for sure.

We hope everyone is well. When you have time please shoot us an email.

Hey Amy! I wondered when you'd be back online. As I sit here, Sunday afternoon, 4:03pm, I'm thinking of you guys and how you're probably sleeping 'cause it's the middle of the night! Anyway, I'm glad you guys made it safely, and I'm looking forward to more posts and lots of pictures! Love you!

Me to Amy I'm looking forward to many more photos. Please keep them coming because I need them I have formed an addiction to these candid pictures of our favorite Corey "Cornish game hen" Otis.
