Over three weeks ago I went to Hong Kong... Yes, me in Hong Kong and it was awesome. No kids, no cleaning, no cooking - a trip dedicated to me and my three friends with one goal in mind... SHOPPING. Oh' what fun!! We did mange to fit some sightseeing in. We looked around while in route to our next market, mall or wherever it was we were going to shop next. I couldn't have taken the trip with three better ladies - Holly, Leanna and Amy (who was 30 weeks prego!)

The four of us at a Chinese restaurant and a night shot of the city from the ferry (not the best picture but you get the idea).
We took the tram to Victoria's peak, took a tour of the city on a double decker bus, rode on a ferry, went to the Peninsula Hotel for noon tea, hit the ladies market, hit Stanley's market, hit some other kind of market, hit the men's market but it wasn't open yet so we went to a mall instead where Holly found the Esprit outlet (just for me). We ate at some awesome restaurants - Vietnamese, Thai, French, Chinese; never did try Cantonese food, but did eat at the Thai place twice because it was so delicious. We even tried out the nightlife (key word tried) in Lan Kuai Fong and Soho (sp?) where there are tons of restaurants and bars to choose from. The competition for the restaurants must be fierce because they send out their recruiters who would probably drag you to their location if it wouldn't get them in trouble. We rode in more taxi's, took the subway, rode the ferry again, but never did take a city bus. We also ventured out and found the Live Market where I was kind of grossed out to see the fresh fruit and vegetable stands standing right next to the freshly butchered pig/cows and the fish stands where the fish were still alive and flopping around.

View from Victoria's Peak and the Ladies Market.

I had to practically beg someone to take a picture with me at the Live Market. This is the entry point of the Stanley Market - it sort of had a European feel to it.

Amy trying to get some space while being bombarded by Restaurant recruiters. Amy and Holly safely out of the Secret Back room with all the good purses.
Random side notes: I left my camera case in one of the taxis and Amy (who I have mentioned was 30 weeks pregnant) was the one who chased the Taxi down for me. I was offended by a cashier at a 7/11 because she yelled at me twice. I found it funny just how much Holly, Leanna and Amy stuck out of the crowd because of their very blonde hair. The noon tea was my favorite, what could be better than drinking hot tea, eating finger sandwiches and talking about your favorite subject... our kids. Bargaining with the merchants at the markets was so much fun, when I wasn't bargaining for something for myself, I was trying to bargain for the other ladies... I probably drove them nuts. The most nervous I was on the trip was when we followed a guy up some scary stairwell to a secret room full of purses where we were then locked in until we bought something.
