Devon shortly after losing the training wheels.

The other day I had some time to mess around with the kids. I told Devon that he WILL ride his bike. Like it or not! Well, we got home from going to a squadron christmas party and got his bike and went to the empty basketball court and he started to ride his bike. After 1 loop he told me to go home and get the wrench so i could take off the training wheels. Within about 10 minutes he was zipping back and forth in the basketball court without help. He took a couple of spills but those were mostly in part to the girls riding their toys over there. Anyway, Devon was pretty pumped to ride his bike. Ever since then he has been riding his bike to his friends house around the corner. Unfortunetly, this story has a sad ending! On Sunday we parked his bike next to the house. By Monday afternoon, when Devon came home from school, he wanted to ride his bike, only there wasn't any bike to ride. Someone came and stole his bike. That kind of pissed me off. What the heck! I hope whatever kid stole that bike, they eat it hard core on the pavement! Anyway, now Devon is bummed because he can't ride a bike anymore. It took me years to get him to ride the thing, only to be stolen 2 days after he learns to ride it! Ugggghhhh! At least I got proof of the feat.

Good job Devon! That's awesome! Well, the part about riding the bike on his own not the part about it getting stolen! That's crazy! Poor kid! Good Luck!
A lot like his Mom on that one, once HE made up his mind he just went out and did it!! Even though you told him he was going to do it, it still had to be HIS idea!
So..... I hope Santa can find a cool replacement bike??
