After a long awaited time, Amy was able to leave the kids and fly to Turkey for a week and a half of a much need break away from the daily stresses of motherhood. We were so lucky to have my Mother and Father as well as Aunt Steph fly in from Seattle to stay with the kids. As soon as Grandma, Grandpa and Steph arrived the kids were totally excited to see them and I'm sure they were bouncing off the walls. I'm sure that made it even more difficult for my parents to tend to the kids. Anyway, Amy got on a plane the very next day and arrived into Izmir. I had planned out a couple of things during her trip over here. It initially started off with a trip to Istanbul for 3 days, then travel over to a city called Pamukkale to see the white travertines, then drive to Bodrum to stay and relax in a really nice hotel. From there we were going to drive over to Marmaris Turkey and catch a ferry to Rhodes, Greece. This part of the trip was a surprise for Amy as really the only thing she wanted to do on the trip was to go to Greece, of which I told her there were too many things to see here in Turkey. Regardless we were going to spend 2 nights there and then catch the ferry back to Turkey and then spend the last few days in Izmir just relaxing.
All in all it we had a lot of fun seeing some of the sights and just being able to relax without the kids. It was a sad day when Amy had to leave but, I'm sure she was really excited to see the kids again, particularly Kymbal. It was unfortunate that the morning after she got home my parents had to return home to Seattle, so Amy was right back in the thick of things without any "easing" back into the stressful life. Below are some pictures of our trip. There won't be any pictures of Istanbul because of a slight oversight on my part. I booked tickets from Istanbul to Izmir then back to Istanbul. No worries though I got my money back. Afterwards the trip went off without a hitch.

Amy on a 4 wheeler. We rented one of these things after causing an international incident at another rental shop. Amy was eating some watermelon and spilled some juice on the floor and the guy in the rental shop flipped out and started calling us names. So we left and rented this one from another shop. Possibly one of the silliest things we did on island. Driving this on the main road blocking traffic going about 15mph while everyone else was going 35+.
Pulling into Rhodes, Greece. In the background you can see Turkey. This was Amy's favorites thing. She was soooo excited when I told her that we were going to Greece. All in all Greece is very much like Turkey, only way more expensive.
The last 2 pictures were in the medieval castle there in Rhodes. It was really fun to just wander around the narrow little alleyways and see what was going on behind the scenes. We found a really cute old lady that Amy snapped a few photos of. These were just a few of the pictures we took while exploring round the castle.
I'll post more pictures later.

I love your pictures! Turkey and Greece look beautiful! I'm so happy you guys were able to spend time together.
Corey, thank you so much for the Holy water! The kids were just lovely at church while your parents were here. I think your mom and dad did a wonderful job and the kids seemed very happy!
Turkey may be just like Greece but come on...It's Greece for crying out loud. Glad you could spend some time together.
