Montenegro

The other week I had the chance to get out of Izmir, Turkey and go on a TDY with some Italians to another country. My itinerary brought me to Podgorica, Montenegro, where I attended a regional airspace and surveillance working group. It was somewhat interesting, ok not really but it got me out of Turkey for a week and into another country that I've never been before. For those that don't know where Montenegro is it is just south of Croatia and across the Adriatic Sea from Italy. It is a very small country with only about 600,000 people. Our travel agent messed up our travel plans so we went to the wrong airport, so the Ministry of Defense for Montenegro sent a van to pick us up and take us to our hotel. It was a beauty country side. Lots of mountains, coast with nice beaches. We were there for about 2 full days and after the conference I had some opportunities to get out and do some site seeing. During the conference the Ministry of Defense took us out to lunch to some pretty nice places. I could get used to this NATO job. Some of the pictures aren't very good because we were in a race back to the airport and the driver didn't want to stop for me to get some photos so, I had to make due with snapping some from the van.

On the trip back to Tivat airport. The drive back was down a very windy and steep road. This was looking down into the city of Budva.

Another shot of the old part of Budva. This would have been cool if I had time to go and see it.

Old church near the hotel I was staying at.

Old castle that overlooked the Adriatic. It was a really clear day. This is looking off towards Italy.
